The first Hutchins chapel was located in a room in the boarding house in Macquarie Street and was consecrated in . On , Bishop Robert E Davies officiated at the dedication and consecration of the long-awaited Chapel of St Thomas in Sandy Bay.

Several refurbishments have taken place since then including: a leadlight panel installed in which stands behind the alter; a set of stained glass windows created by students to honour the memory of a classmate; and the installation of the School’s coat of arms and crest borrowed from Archdeacon Hutchins and the City of Nottingham.

Students attend regular chapel services and are encouraged to participate in community service programs. A Christian life, as a response to Jesus Christ, is commended and encouraged at Hutchins. We express our Christian values in welcoming and respecting members of all faiths, beliefs and traditions.

One pathway still,
by vale or hill,
Shall lead us home
to thee.
