Harj is a barrister working at the London Bar, where he specialises in climate law and litigation.
He has an Honorary Fellowship in Climate Law at the University of Oxford and is a Visiting Senior Fellow in Climate Law and Litigation at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics. Harj teaches on indigenous rights and environmental law at the University of Cambridge, and is on the board of the International Institute for Environment and Development. Prior to coming to the Bar, Harj worked as a diplomat in UN Climate Change negotiations, as a policy advisor to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and as a climate and refugee lawyer on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea, and in Lesvos, Greece.
